First day in Tiree and it's straight off the ferry into a baptism of fire. The ante had been filled on the ferry and the first to sail away from a forward loop was to take all but today wasn't that day with these conditions. Gott Bay was chosen as a place we could all sail together and, with the exception of the loch, provided the most benign conditions in the 40+ knot winds. We headed as far round as possible to get cross off conditions from the right and some of the sets were coming through at head high.

Opted for the first use of the 3.7 (having bought it in Jan following last years Tiree) and hit the water with bare feet. The water was like corrugated iron when you got past the break and the gusts were vicious. On the way back I caught a 4 ft set and powered into 4 bottom turns - so easy in cross off winds. This set the pattern for the day, not much jumping but loads of wave riding.

Perfect start to the trip really.
